¶ I see too that the things I have already bind me well enough. How much more if things yet to be acquired were added to it! ¶ I have enough for the ordinary needs of life and dignity. I will serve no cardinal or churchman with a view to gaining benefices or temporal goods, for such service is prone to many lapses and backslidings. ¶ You are frail and should not expose yourself to danger except in the service of God. ¶ You are very near to death and would not be able to sustain any great banqueting.
